The 11th Hour, On the 11th Day, Of the 11th Month

Lest We Forget

The 11th November is a day for remembering, and the whole of Bluecoat C of E Primary School did just that as we held our annual Remembrance Service to pay our respects in this Centenary year to those that gave their lives in the First World War, and the many conflicts there have been since.

Foundation Stage and Key Stage One joined together in the lower school hall, with each class laying their handmade poppy wreathes around our wooden cross.  Second Officer Wingrove once again shared some of her thoughts about this special day and showed a plaque which her family received after her great grandfather died in the First World War. Key Stage two gathered in the upper school hall.  Children and adults were encouraged to focus on the lit candles as they observed a one minute silence.

Children in the nursery also marked the occasion as they focused on a candle whilst observing a one minute silence at 11:00am.

Well done to all the children for behaving impeccably and showing great respect throughout the service.

Remembrance Sunday

On Sunday 9th November, School Councillors from across the Key Stages attended the Remembrance Service at the Memorial in Torrington. They processed from Lidl Car Park, laid the wreath at the memorial and processed back. They were very dignified, well behaved and were a credit to the School and their families.
