Roman Day

On Wednesday V1 January MMXVI the pupils in Year 4 took part in a Roman day to start off their new topic.  Most pupils dressed up as Romans and had great fun making Roman shields and learning about life as a Roman soldier.  After constructing their shields, they learnt about the tortoise formation that was used by the soldiers in battle for protection.  Next it was time to practice marching together – a little more practice was definitely needed!  They also learnt about how the Roman Empire spread across Europe and North Africa and enacted the Roman advancement.  They have already written newspaper recounts about the day.  To find out more who not come into our Year 4 classes and look at the learning taking place.
