Ask the Office

Very often, any question you have to ask is relevant to many of our families so we have created this section of our website as a point of reference. Here you will find some of our most frequently asked questions. If you still outstanding queries, please do get in touch and one of our administration team will be happy to assist.

How do I enrol my child at this school?

The school follows the Devon County guidelines for admissions and our Admissions Policy is available for download on our Policies page. If you would like to arrange for a school visit or to meet with the headteacher, please get in touch.

I’m not sure if I’m entitled to the 30 free hours childcare entitlement for my 3/4 year old?

To qualify for 30 hours free childcare, both parents must be working and each earning at least £120 a week (on average) and not more than £100,000 each a year. To find out more and to apply, please visit https://www.childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/

If you still have queries after visiting the above website, please get in touch.

I’m interested in working at the school – do you have any vacancies?

The majority of our job vacancies are published at www.devonjobs.gov.uk and on our vacancies page. If you would like to volunteer within the school, please speak to a member of the office team who will be happy to discuss any opportunities. All volunteers will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.

What do I do if my child is poorly?

We appreciate that having a child off poorly can be a tricky time, particularly if you are juggling other children and/or work commitments. However, it is essential that we can account for all children on roll and ask that parents or carers inform the office by telephone on the first morning of the absence, providing a reason for the absence. The school will contact parents or carers if no attempt to inform the school is made. If we do not receive a satisfactory reason for an absence, it will be marked as unauthorised.

Has my child got a place on the after school club that I requested?

The extra curricular clubs booklet goes out at the start of each school term. All places for clubs are allocated on a first come first served basis and if your child has been allocated a space on their chosen activity, a parentmail will go out confirming this. Most clubs have a maximum number so we advise that, if a child has a particular club in mind, parents complete the booking forms as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
