Primary Support Partnership

PSP Logo

Bluecoat School is highly regarded within the local community for its inclusive approach and the quality of support provided for pupils identified as having Special Educational Needs. The school has a long history of providing practical and sustainable support to other settings and in September 2013 was asked to take on leadership of the Primary Support Partnership covering the Torridge area.

The Torridge Primary Support Partnership works proactively and collaboratively to create a practical and sustainable approach to meeting the diverse needs of children and families in the partnership area. Emphasis is placed on:

  • Increasing capacity through shared working
  • Establishing preventative practice
  • Listening to and engaging constructively with pupils and their families
  • Supporting and empowering staff to enhance their own well-being and equip them to meet the high level needs of pupils within their care

The PSP has a collaborative and mutually supportive approach with emphasis placed on upskilling and empowering staff within schools and settings by:

  • Sharing existing effective practice and support, establishing robust SENDCo networks
  • Developing additional provision to meet the needs of vulnerable pupils and their families within the partnership – e.g. play therapy, counselling, additional provision etc.
