Class RH Go ‘Down Under’

Class RH have continued to explore ‘around the world’ and have recently been learning about Australia.  They have looked at photos, objects and talked to people who have been there.  The children had a real treat when Teaching Assistant Dean brought in his Didgeridoo and played it for them beautifully.  It is really tricky to get the sound just right and Dean explained he had to practice and practice and not give up.  Great Building Your Learning Power, Dean! He also told the children a little bit about how Didgeridoos are used by Aboriginals and they all enjoyed listening to the sound.  ‘Perhaps now we should make one’, suggested Daisy.

The class have also been trying their hand at Aboriginal style paintings and thinking about the stories behind them.  Gemma brought in lots of photos and a boomerang from her parents’ visit to Australia and was very keen to talk about the kangaroo and koala pictures.   Thank you for sharing, Gemma.
