Toys Donated for Little John’s House

On Tuesday 20th January, the school hosted their annual Toy Service, an event which supports Little John’s House orphanage in Romania with whom Mags Zaharia works. The children from Reception and Key Stage One donated an incredible amount of toys which will shared with the children in Romania.

Breaking News! We have a Newsroom Team!

Interviews have taken place today for the school newsroom team. Applications were invited from year six for the post of Editor, Sub-Editor, Journalists and Photographers.

The school newsroom is a new development taking place in the centre of the school. Currently used for small group work and storage, plans are afoot to transform the space into a cutting edge newsroom

Party in a Winter Wonderland

Class RM were fortunate enough to be invited to a special ‘Winter Wonderland’ party at Great Torrington School by the Year 9 and 10 Babysitting Group. Children enjoyed games, colouring, a treasure hunt and, of course, party food! Everyone had a fantastic time and looked great in their costumes.

At the end of last term another group of lucky Year 3 children donned their helmets and got on their bikes to successfully complete their Level 1 Bikeability training.

Year 3 Spelling Bee Competition

Year 3 pupils worked very hard on their ‘Letters and Sounds’ over the Autumn term. The guided sessions with their teachers looked at spelling patterns and rules in the English language. The new introduction of their Spelling Journals encouraged them to continue their learning at home; and some pupils enjoyed challenging their family members with their games and activities.

As part of their Stone Age topic pupils in year 4 have been creating, performing and writing their own music. With the help of modern technology, they have recorded their instruments and voices, then inserted the recordings into a computer program which allows layering of different sounds.
